Description: Ceramic Arts Studio (Madison WI 1940-55) is well-known for its beautifully designed and decorated salt and pepper sets of people and animals. This tiny Dutch girl shaker - appropriately called "Wee Dutch Girl" in the catalogs - was designed by Betty Harrington and produced in 1947 and is one in the "Foreign Costume Series". The detailed design of the mold and hand-decoration typical of CAS pieces is evident. An example of this shape can be seen on page 71 of the 2003 reference book - Ceramic Arts Studio The Legacy of Betty Harrington - by Donald-Brian Johnson, Timothy J. Holthaus, and James E. Petzold. She is about 2-7/8 inches tall, 1-1/2 inches wide, and 1-1/2 inches front-to-back and has 3 holes in the top of her cap for the shaker. She is marked on the bottom "CERAMIC ARTS STUDIO MADISON WI (C) BH." for Betty Harrington. While it is always good to get a pair of shakers - in this case having the Wee Dutch Boy, too - singles are often found, and maybe someone is looking for this one. She is in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - and ready to use or display. Ships USPS.Please look for more Ceramic Arts Studio pieces in my ebay store listings!
