Description: Central Airlines, on October 15, 1949, inaugurated service on Air Mail Route 81's Segment 3 from Dallas, via Greenville and Paris, to Texarkana. Official map-type cachets with pictorial insets as used on the initial service were applied at all points.This cover was carried on the inaugural Air Mail Route 81 flight from Paris, Texas to Dallas, Texas (where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Contract Air Mail Flights (CAM) Section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as 81W15. Effective October 1, 1967, Central Airlines and Frontier Airlines were merged with Frontier Airlines being the survivor company. The certificate for the operation of Air Mail Route 81 formerly held by Central was reissued to Frontier and although Air Mail Route 81 retained its identity, Frontier assumed route authority effective this date.
