Up until recently this species was classified as a mako shark but has now been moved into the same genus as the modern great white. Carcharodon hastalis lived during the Megalodon era, from the early Miocene to the Pliocene when it eventually evolved into the great white shark. This shark tooth would be a perfect addition to a fossil collection. It would also make an awesome gift for a child or a killer pendant for a shark tooth necklace.
