Description: Yes the ad is for a sharpening stone, but the most interesting feature about this particular stone is it comes from my own family and I know it's history. My late father worked for Sears automotive back in the 60's and 70's and had this stone as part of his tool kit. He must have wanted an absorbing bit to take on any water that remained in the stone so it wouldn't distort the box. In any event, he folded up a piece of his morning newspaper which now is an interesting time capsule to reflect on. The time must have been in the mid-70's based on the articles (although I couldn't find a date). I say mid-70's because there is an article describing life after the 20 year anniversary out of the 2nd world war, ca. 1945. The articles therein strike an eerie resemblence of the same issues we are (still) dealing with today! Wash, Rinse, Repeat... Enjoy! Andy
