Description: c1815 JOHN ROSE COALPORT English Regency Period Porcelain Tea Set Shell 72 MAKER: John Rose Coalport circa 1815 attributed using "An Anthology of British Teapots" by Miller and Berthoud as reference. Signed only with the numeral "72" in the foot rim of the slop bowl, tea plate and sugar bowl. Sugar bowl has in incised "x" in the base. PATTERN: 72 MATERIAL: Hand Painted Porcelain PIECE NAME: Partial Tea Set in the new oval shape; hand decorated in polychrome on a peach ground and includes: Teapot - 9 3/4" handle to spout; 5" from base to top of spout. Finial on lid has been reattached and an attempt at restoration appears to have been made (photo 3). Handle has a hairline through the top and bottom which appears to have been reattached with glue or epoxy (photos 4 & 5) - it appears to have been done fairly well and cleanly. Numerous chips to spout. Small flake to the foot rim. Glaze crack to the underside. Painting and gilding is in good condition. Teapot Stand - 7 3/8" by 5 5/8" by 1 1/8". Has a flake out of the face of it and some wear from the teapot, but it otherwise it looks good. Sucrier/Sugar Bowl - 6 1/2" by 4 1/8" and 3" tall without lid and 5" with. Lid has a flake to the underside. Bowl has some light wear to the paint and gilding but is otherwise excellent. Slop Bowl - 6 1/2" by 3" tall. A single glaze crack to the base, some minor pattern and trim wear. Otherwise great condition. Tea Plate - 8 1/2" with 1 1/2" tall rim. General surface and light pattern wear. A flake to the inside of the foot rim. I have other pieces in the pattern including cups and coffee cans. Please search my store or contact me if interested.
