Description: Vintage Basket Small Makah Native American Indian basket with lid.Miniature, round, twined basket, measuring 2.5 inches high and about 3.5 inches wide. Round basket made with matching lid is made of diagonal twists of bear grasses and has it's start at the bottom in a checks weave of cedar splints. Cedar splints also used along the rim area of basket to reinforce and strenghten top of basket for removal of cover. Design elemnents consist of hour glass shapes with dissecting center bars once-over and along sides. Coencentric circles of color also decorate the rim cover sides and base of basket. Purple and yellow color used, but now faded due to age of basket. Basket was made for the tourist trade and is in excellent condition.
