Description: C. 1860s carte de visite of an unidentified gentleman by Matilda Moore. Printed in her studio at 421 Canal Street, New York City. 4” x 2.5”. In good condition. Light rubbing and wear to bottom corners. General age-related toning to paper, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. An extremely scarce piece of New York history. Matilda Moore was a female photographer in the city active from around 1860 to 1883. While not much is known about her, she was undoubtably one of only a handful of female photographers at the time, and few CDVs (one source lists approximately 100 or so) have survived.
