Description: c 1827 Thomas Minton second period "Amherst Japan" ironstone bowl.A glorious example of the potter and hand painting art in the chinoiserie style with rich blue, orange and green; with a gold border.Unfortunately, this bowl had a difficult time in the kiln - discoloring to the base Inside and outside), 3 firing bubbles to the glaze on the inner base and light surface marks. Still displays beautifully given it is over 200 years old, with no damage or repairsbut some crazing which is typical. Stands 7 cm tall and 17.5 cm across.The base bears the Amherst Japan Made in England back stamp.
