Description: Leslie & Price Philadelphia C. 1790's High Style "Pagoda Top" Mahogany Tall Case Clock. At first glance it looks like an "London" clock with a Philadelphia retailer's name on the dial. In fact Robert Leslie operated clock/watch/instrument businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. Over the past 50 yrs we have owned similar examples by this maker in nearly identical Mahogany cases with a "pagoda top." According to new research by Richard Newman Robert was born in Cecil Co. Maryland. Leslie was a self taught clock & watchmaker and credited with many horological inventions & patents. The "American side" of the Leslie organization was comprised of partnerships with Parry, Price in Philadelphia along with a shop in Baltimore as well. This particular example shows the combination of the "London High Style" marketed in Philadelphia combining the style, case form, and wood selection from English designs with an American painted iron dial & movement. Overall this is a very fine, high quality clock in a wonderful state of preservation. Overall the case measures 93 inches tall. The clock will be delivered to your home or office using one of our experienced Fine Arts Movers that will provide you with "white glove, door to door" service at a fixed cost of $ 350. You are welcome to come over and pick up the clock in person at no cost if you prefer. Please ask any questions you may have Steve Petrucelli Adams Brown Company, Cranbury NJ 08512
