Original and signed ‘BULOVA’ on the back. The all stainless steel case has been cleaned & repolished and fitted with a new acrylic crystal. In general, the case looks great with wear/scratches commensurate with the age of the watch. The case is NOT waterproof. Crown: Original, signed ‘Bulova’. Dial: Immaculate, complementing the distinctiveness of the stainless steel case, the dial is in its original condition. The dial has a textured circular design inner area with a distinctive outer band which has an almost mirrored reflective finish. The hour positions are marked ridged rectangular batons which are double thickness at the quarter hour positions, these along with the ‘Bulova’ name are steel and raised on the dial. ’30 Jewels’, ‘Automatic’ and the minute chapter are in black. The hour positions along with the hands have not been relumed as they still glow well in the dark. Hands: Hour, minute and sweep second hands are original, gilt, pitched ‘Dauphine’ style. Movement: BULOVA Swiss manual & self-winding movement. This is a fine classic 10COAC calibre with 30 jewels and marked ‘N0’ for 1970. The movement allows for both manual and self-winding. It is designed to prevent over-winding. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted and at the time of listing is running well keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended. Size: Round, measures approx. 30.04mm in diameter. Approx. 38.74mm lug to lug. Band: A new 18mm black leather band with silver tone buckle has been fitted complementing the timepiece perfectly. Box: This watch comes with its original highly sought after Bulova hard case presentation box and cardboard outer box. The top of the outer cardboard box is a dark turquoise blue and richly embossed with a type of linen textured effect. ‘Bulova 30’ being prominently displayed in gold tone lettering in the center with a double gold band margin to the edges. The box can be forgiven for showing a few modest scuffs here and there having performed admirably in protecting the contents. The bottom portion of the outer box is a cream tone with an interesting textured effect of the ‘Bulova Fifth Avenue, New York’ in a diamond cross-design. The hard cased presentation box is very eye-catching. In the same colour as the cardboard outer with a slight leather textured effect and design. The ’Bulova 30’ is in bold gold tone letters in the same design as the outer. The rims to the case have a metal protective gold tone edging. The box opens as it should to revel a sumptuous interior with the underside of the lid having an almost theatrical appearance. With a cream and gold frame and on a blue background the ‘Bulova 30 jewel’ is in a bold stylised font and ‘selfwinding’, ‘shock resistant’, ‘anti-magnetic’, ‘certified waterproof’, below. The mount for the watch is in a light grey coloured velvet, complementing the design of the lid. In general, the box is in great condition and looks good. The presentation box is a wonderful addition to this classic timepiece for a discerning collector. ________________________________________________________________________________ General comments: This ensemble was an estate acquisition and was a remarkable find. The Bulova ‘30 Jewels’ automatic watch is from 1970 and comes with it’s original presentation box and cardboard outer being so wonderful to have survived the years intact. The watch is not waterproof. The watch has been restored to appeal once again and as I’m sure you will agree – it certainly does. The bold repolished case with eye-catching original silver tone dial with a 30 jewels movement make the watch highly desirable. The watch has a pleasing classic look and feel that simply cannot be found in newer watches.
