Growing mushrooms is a magical experience from inoculation to fruiting. When you see the tiny pins coming out of the cake like magic that only God could create. Over the next few days those tiny mushroom pins will start to form into real mushrooms. Not every mushroom pin survives and those are called "aborts" and it happens on all mushroom grows. This substrate is hand prepared with:• Organic Brown Rice Flour• Organic Vermiculite • Other Organic Ingredients• Sulfur and Calcium• Worm Castings• RO Well Water These versatile organic brf jars can be used to produce spawn for any type of mushroom. Once fully colonized soak cakes in bottled water for 12 hours in the refrigerator to active them. Remove from water and shake excess water off and then roll in fine vermiculite (included). We like to use rinsed perlite in the bottom of a fruiting container and cut little squares of foil. We place foil on perlite and then stand the cake up on top of the foil. Once all cakes are in fruiting container lightly mist cakes once a day to keep them moist but not wet. Too much misting will cause them to get moldy and moldy cakes need to be discarded to prevent them from contaminating other cakes. Each day when you mist the cakes fan them lightly with the lid to introduce air unless you are using a closed system with a humidifier. The best container you can buy for a fruiting chamber for one case of BRF Jars is a 32 QT Sterlite Gasket Box at Walmart for under $15. Jars are pressure cooked at 15 PSI for 90 minutes to sterilize.
