Backs irregularly shaped, about 8 wide at lower bout, 22 long , sanded to about 0.150 thick Sides, 32 long, 5 wide sanded to approximately 0.126 thick.NIce tap, Garapa is rarely seen, Has a Janka reported around 1700 depending on source. Slightly interlocked grain with pores that are very tiny. Photo'd wet. Personally, this wood to me has the feel of osage orange, but with a beautiful chatoyance and waxy feel and also reminiscent of some satinwoods I have seen. I have had this sawn several years, and these are the only pieces of this wood I have at present. The bookmatch is slightly off as the backs are turned "inside out" here because one of the "faces" seemed to have darkened significantly from being exposed to the air(see last pic). The pieces are very well quartered and so I believe I would use them as (while not bookmatched perfectly)since the color matches better.
