This adaptation by Monique Gray Smith, the renowned and beloved writer for children and young adults, allows young readers to take into their lives the offerings and guidance of Robins stories, no matter what their experience is, no matter where they come from, no matter who they are. In language that respects the love for all living things that young people are born with, accompanied by powerful illustrations that are works of heart, this book is itself a beautiful braid of three women, dare I say Three Sisters--Robin Wall Kimmerer, Monique Gray Smith and Nicole Neidhardt, brilliant storytellers, story-tenders and storykeepers. Braiding Sweetgrass for Young Adults is a book to grow up with and grow into. It is both medicine and a loud and urgent call to honour the gifts of the earth and the responsibility to give gifts to the earth in return. Imagine growing up guided by the questions "How can we make our relations with the world sacred again?" and "What will your offering be?" This book will plant a garden in young hearts and then, oh, what a world!"--Shelagh Rogers, OC, host and producer of CBC Radio Ones The Next Chapter, and former chancellor of the University of Victoria Feature Sensitive adaptation of Robin Wall Kimmerers best-selling book for adults: Kimmerer is a Citizen Potawatomi Nation member Text was adapted for young readers by award-winning author Monique Gray Smith (Cree) Original artwork created by Nicole Neidhardt (Navajo) Reflection questions help tie teachings to curricular concepts Description for Press or Other Media Digital Press Kit, Featured in eNewsletter, National Advertising, National Author Appearances, National Publicity Campaign, National Review Attention, Promotional Materials, Special Publicity Mailing to Childrens Media Outlets Details ISBN1728458994 Author Nicole Neidhardt Short Title Braiding Sweetgrass for Young Adults Language English Illustrator Nicole Neidhardt ISBN-10 1728458994 ISBN-13 9781728458991 Format Paperback Country of Publication United States AU Release Date 2022-11-01 NZ Release Date 2022-11-01 UK Release Date 2022-11-01 Pages 304 Subtitle Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants Illustrations Glossary; Bibliography; Index; Illustrations, black and white DEWEY 305.8 Audience Teenage / Young adult Audience Age 12-18 Publisher Lerner Publishing Group Year 2022 Publication Date 2022-11-01 Imprint Lerner Publishing Group Place of Publication Minneapolis Alternative 9781728460635 US Release Date 2022-11-01 We've got this At The Nile, if you're looking for it, we've got it.
