Description: UPDATE 11/15/2021: I now have a rigger than can load this onto your flatbed for you. $450 loaded. You arrange your flatbed, bring it yourself, hire it out etc. and I can have it set on it. Of course who ever is hauling it for you is responsible for securing the load, transport etc. Bradford Metal Lathe 20"x96" - Used and rusty - For parts or repair, or possible use as is. Any information in this listing needs to be verified by the buyer before purchase. This is an old lathe. The person who sold this lathe originally sold it to a machine shop at a plant here in Indy. After years of use he either bought it back or took it for a trade in, and then resold it to the husband of the current owner. This lathe was used by an old school well driller. He knew the trade very well. From my understanding, this lathe was set up for him to make repairs to his rods, make custom tooling, and so on. I am assisting the owner (his widow) in selling his equipment. length of the bed is 12', therefore I assume it's 96" center to center. Overall length is less than 13'. Overall height is about 6.5'. It includes a motorized sander/polisher attachment as shown (appears to be a 1HP motor). I approximate overall width 2.5'-3'. The bed has what I would call double ways. With the outer way being 16” OC and the inner way 10’ inner OC. From the bed to the center of the chuck is about 11” therefore I assume it has a 20" swing if not a little more. (Chuck appears to be a 3HP, which is likely much downsized from what this lathe can really handle. I assume the owner's husband cobbled this smaller motor on here for single phase and it's all he needed to turn his drill rods). IF you're interested I have a very clean, I believe it's a 5 HP, maybe 7.5HP 3 phase motor that came off a Southwest Industries ProtoTRAK CNC lathe for additional $. Tailstock included. a couple well used center supports included. I believe we have a couple tailstock center drill bits that will be thrown in the sale. This sale will include fixturing and tooling that belongs to this lathe (whatever is laying on or around the lathe that is identifiable as belonging to the lathe). Power is removed from lathe. The buyer can provide rigging and shipping of the lathe. This lathe is bolted to 2 ~6"x6" wood runners. My best guess is a roll back with a winch can have this loaded up in about 30 minutes. I believe the lathe weighs about 2-3k lbs no more than 4k. I will work with your shipper or rigger or with you directly to get this loaded (or as mentioned above, we can load it on your flatbed. NOTE: I had a South Bend Lathe that I sold locally, and we were able to load it onto a tilt bed trailer with a wench using some ingenuity and time. This lathe is very accessible and I'm certain with another tilt bed trailer or a roll back, this lathe can be loaded in about 30 minutes. no more than an hour. I'm also told that it is worth about $1,250 as it sits today to a reseller/rebuilder, if I could show it turns a true part (which I do not have the time or knowledge to do) it would be worth about $3,500, and if I restored then it would be worth >$7k depending on the level of work performed. We do not have time to test or restore, so we're asking $1,250 for this lathe. As the listing states offers will be considered. This lathe has been under roof since being at its current location. However, it has not been in conditioned space, pretty much open to the weather, but under roof. As you can see in the pics the ways have surface rust, the machine itself is rusty and would need some work to get operational again. The lathe is being sold as is. If you need more information or want better pictures or pictures of a specific angle/part please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate any and all requests. Please contact me to set up an appointment to see the lathe in person. Very flexible in appointment times.
