Boston Whaler Rigid Raider! We’ve had this one sitting patently on the back burner for way too long! I had a vision of re-powering, keeping mostly original, and redeploying as the YCM chase boat - but it’s been 4 years with no forward movement, so it’s time to let her go! She’s a very rare 1989 Boston Whaler Rigid Raiding Craft, or “Raider”, developed for the United States Marine Corp. by Boston Whaler’s Commercial Products Division as a high speed transport to get Marines and equipment from the ship to the beach. The decks have built in D rings for strapping down cargo. Check out the Stainless Steel Cutwater, designed to protect the keel during beach landings! Also cool are the outer Stainless Steel handrails, designed to give Marines something to hold onto while in the water. She also has a massive Ring around the outboards to protect the motors, and a very stout towing setup. These Riders were built significantly heavier and more rugged than the 18’ Outrage that shared the same mold. Because her job was troop transport, potentially in a war zone, this is said to be the most overbuilt Whaler ever produced, beyond even the 18’ Guardian, which also shared the same mold. She is a project, the motors haven’t been started in years (we have no idea the condition of the motors and suggest re-powering) and I’ll only sell this her to someone that’s going to do something cool - no crabbers, no dock builders - no offense, but this warrior deserves to be brought back! The big time overbuilt single axle trailer is original, has a pintle ring and a GVWR of 9950 lbs! The price is 10k, which I’m sure is less than the United States government paid to have that trailer built - and the least expensive boat @ York County Marine!
