Description: BOSTON, MASS Two very nice Civil War Era Individual Carte de Visite of husband and wife. They have been identified as Mrs. Marcia M. Walter and Mr. John Walter of Chelsea, Mass. Edward was born in 1831 in England and Rebecca 1833 in Maine. They had an adopted child named Edward B. born 1866 Australia. Mr. Walter was a shipbroker in Chelsea, Mass. Portraits were taken by two different studios. Wifes portrait was taken at RIGGINS & Co. at 109 Washington Str., Boston. Husbands portrait taken by G. H. LOOMIS at No. 7 Tremont Row, Boston. Marcia is wearing a lovely overcoat, draped in a shawl. The coat has very nice details along the cuffs and large buttons. Her dress is a hoop skirt dress that we see the bottom hem.
