The album publishes photographs from 1898 and 1901. participant of the expeditions to the Pamirs Nikolai Vasilyevich Bogoyavlensky, forming part of the photographic collection of the expeditions of Count Alexei Alekseevich Bobrinsky, stored in the photo archive of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The name of A.A. Bobrinsky was undeservedly forgotten, and the materials he collected have not yet been fully introduced into scientific circulation. The publication is preceded by essays dedicated to A.A. Bobrinsky and his expeditions, in which the main objects of scientific research were the culture of the mountain Tajiks. Visual material gives an idea of the habitat, settlements, clothing, footwear, headdresses, utensils, religious beliefs and cults of the local population. Also presented are photographs of architectural monuments of Samarkand and the life of the Kyrgyz of the Pamirs. The photographs and catalog of the collection are published for the first time.
