Boehm was known for his artistic talent and the lifelike detail he brought to fine art porcelain. This little Cardinal is a perfect example. Boehm's birds were the first to be formed of a porcelain comparable to that of European and Asian artworks. He developed a hard-paste, high-quality porcelain, and artistically detailed each piece in a matte bisque finish. This little bird is approximately 4 1/4 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches in diameter at the base. It is signed on the underside with the Boehm hallmark horse head, Made in U.S.A., #400-57. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. For Boehm collectors or bird collectors, this will be a wonderful addition.
