Description: Good purity Black Iron(II,III) Oxide, or Fe3O4. Chemically stable and generally non-toxic, used for various chemical reactions, as a pigment, for thermite welding, and a wide range of other uses. Particle size is about 35µm, or 450 mesh, on average. Natural oxide instead of synthetic, which means this has slightly lower purity and larger particle size, but for most uses, this makes absolutely no difference. If you're looking for high purity or small particle size for superior performance as pigments, contact us about synthetic iron oxide. This powder is also ferromagnetic, meaning you can use it to trace magnetic fields and complex striations, and it can be used to compose magnetic paints, putties, or other materials. Generally speaking, this natural powder isn't fine enough for use in ferrofluid, unless you're only interested in a very basic example. Not FDA approved. As with any chemical, handle with respect.
