Description: An iconic and scarce signed silk Serigraph by the World famous Plymouth artist Beryl Cook (1926 - 2008). This is number 154/300 and is signed lower right. Mint, just perfect. A fine addition to any collection. The picture is titled ‘Manipulators’ and depicts a dance club, with a group of men and women dancing in the background. In the foreground is a table with 2 seated men leering at a woman who is joining them. However, probably the most iconic image of this painting is the couple dancing in the middle. It is a small man whose head has partly disappeared into his larger partner’s bust, as she holds him tightly. Beryl Cook's is nearly always a 'tongue in cheek' critique of Plymouth life, but with an element of warmth and humor. Her characters are always portrayed on the voluptuous side. The print run was limited to a small run of 300 examples, and this is numbered 52, which being a low number is more desirable. The condition of the unmounted print is good. The example is numbered and signed in pencil by Beryl Cook. Image Size: 60cm x 43 cm (23 1/2" x 17" inches) Print Size: (31 1/2" x 25" inches) A fine addition to any collection.
