Beautiful Large Late 18thC/Early 19thC Antique Portrait of a Lady

Description: Gorgeous large fine antique original American School oil on canvas Portrait of a Lady. Dates to the late 18th or very early 19th Century and presented in a beautiful gilt gesso frame. Measures 38 5/8" by 33 5/8" by 2 1/2" with a sight of approximately 29 1/2" by 24 1/2". Appears to be un-signed; Did not find artist's signature. Very possibly a society portrait with as yet unidentified sitter. Displays well with colors that are still vivid and vibrant; minor wear and separation from frame at bottom edge of oval canvas (see pics) commensurate with age. The central oval portion of the gilt frame is very old and appears to be original to this piece. The outer square portion of the frame is likely a later, more modern addition but compliments the overall presentation very well. Frame in very nice condition with minor age-related wear and some very minor (see pics) areas of gesso loss. Canvas with possible toning due to age, some minor areas of craquelure and a somewhat reflective old varnish. Some very minor, small areas of retouch when examined under a UV light. Old, original stretcher bars and a discolored spot on the back of the canvas where an old label was once affixed. New picture wire and ready to hang on your wall. Overall, this painting is in very good antique condition and has been well cared for over the years. Available for local pickup or will ship FedEx Home Delivery to the continental US. Will also help find a delivery driver if that is preferred. Would recommend white glove delivery due to the fragile, rare and valuable nature of this item.
