Description: Bates Wintec 17” Black English Saddle Beautiful Condition I ran a horse operation for several decades and I became a huge fan of Wintec saddles. This is a very nice one and in excellent used condition. The model number can still be read, which is 151113. I was able to reach Bates in Australia, who, when I asked them to provide info on this model, said that it is an All Purpose 2000 17" Wintec saddle with flocked panels.The gullet, as best I can tell, is 5 inches. We used this on a medium-withered/shouldered 14-hand pony. If you would like more pictures of the gullet measurements, just let me know. The floc on the seat and knee roll is in excellent condition, as is the underside of the saddle and the billets. If you are unfamiliar with Wintec English saddles, they are made with a monoflap. That means the billets are inserted between flaps that are basically sewn shut. So when you tighten the girth, the girths buckle much lower down on the saddle and lay against the side of the horse – like dressage girths do. I did use both Wintec and dressage girths with these Wintec saddles, depending on the horse’s needs. It has been stored in a barn for several years. I was truly impressed when I took a sponge and water to it…that’s all, just a sponge and water! It cleaned up so easy! It will clean up even more with regular use but another cleaning wouldn’t hurt! While I do have a bin of Wintec Webbers, and I also have a bin of stirrup irons, but I have not included them in this auction.
