Description: The price of Bassoons is getting out of hand on the public auction scene. I saw a Fox go for $2500. I saw a Heckel go for over $5000. This however is a Linton so a relative bargain can be had. I'm told by a knowledgeable potential buyer this is a Linton 5000. It is plastic. Linton's marketing calls it Resonite. It's plastic, nice plastic. I've been told it's complete apart from the hardware to attach a strap which is not included. The only damage I'm aware of is to a seemingly redundant system meant to keep the wing joint and the other joint together. Please see the image with the blue circle. This doesn't seem to have any impact on how the instrument stays together as the springy pin on the joint that is not the wing joint still works and goes into the wing joint. Any shop you take it to will tell you it needs new pads. It probably does. I heard a very nice Bb scale played on it but apart from that I cannot verify how well it plays or if indeed all notes that should be available are available. I make no guarantees at all except that the pictures provided and all those that will be provided upon request are of the instrument listed. As can be seen in a few of the pictures the bocal is in functional shape. Reeds are not included in this listing. I will be happy to field any questions and provide any additional pictures you may need. Please keep the questions as basic as possible, by which I mean ask anything you like just don't be surprised if I don't know what you're talking about and getting your very straightforward, perfectly reasonable and well stated question answered may be an ungodly hassle. I will however do my best and be grateful to be a little less ignorant for having done the research. (I didn't even know what a bocal was before I acquired this instrument). The case in very rough shape, by which I mean a one of the ends is missing, not really broken, just gone, there are pictures of this uploaded to the listing. If you wanted to keep this current case, which is otherwise functional, a cabinet shop might be a good place to start for getting it fixed. The case and to a lesser extent the instrument itself, smells like an old band hall, in my opinion. I will let the buyer decide if that's a bug or a feature. The serial number is 5K 34189. The bocal is a Linton 2B.
