Description: Although they are not quite as well known as the blue Barites from Stoneham CO., the clear Barites found at Book cliffs, near Grand junction, Mesa county, are maybe even more interesting, as they reach perfect clarity, and the crystals are very well formed, with often superb luster. They form in concretions, and are hard to extract. Here you have a nice crystal in the center of matrix rock.This specimen is 216 grams, or 7 5/8 oz. The size is 4 inch x 2 inch x 1.9 inch.
