Description: This movie's soundtrack was billed when it came out as, "The Most Innovational Movie Score Ever Recorded". This is a Roman tragedy starring Anthony Quinn as Barabbas, a thief pardoned to live in place of Jesus being crucified. As a guilt-ridden criminal he encounters the monstrous ruler of Rome, Pontius Pilate (Arthur Kennedy), witnesses the stoning of Sara (Katy Jurado), is on foot in the arena against a sadistic gladiator named Torvald (Jack Palance), and sees the burning of Rome. A Dino De Laurentiis production, this music is as memorable as you'd expect from a great producer of exciting stories. But also the composer, Mr. Nascimbene, himself a successful film music composer in Europe, created a very unique score based on his philosophy that film music should only set the atmosphere of each scene and maintain the mood. This is a very unusual and haunting, film score. The jacket is in Very Good condition with sticker residue on the front of the cover and it has ring wear and age wear. The spine is firm and strong and the top 2 corners are firm and strong as well but the bottom 2 corners are a bit soft. The vinyl is a beautiful older record made with deep grooves for better sound quality as was made during the 60's but has scratches so we're calling the vinyl's condition Very Good+.
