Description: Part of our Real Artifacts Line: We offer; Nearly complete Baklan pressure suit. The Soviet Strizh pressure suit was developed for the Russian Buran orbiters, a another version of this suit, this one. known as the Baklan, was used in high altitude aircraft. This suit was originally purchased by Global Effects, for testing and research during the construction of the first Commercial Pressure suit that they built for XCOR Aerospace and Orbital Outfitters in 2015. This suit is missing the pressure regulator and glove disconnects. Manufactured by NPP Zvezda in the 1980's, this suit measures approximately 67˝ The Cover layer, an olive flame-retardant nylon is in very good shape, with no tears or runs. The rubber inner pressure bladder is also in very good shape. The integral helmet consists of a hinged polycarbonate visor with aluminum and stainless steel hardware This model has a leg mounted pressure gauge. The detachable gloves are included, but the connecting rings are missing. They retain the white fabric covers added during the initial testing of the 1st prototype XCOR suit. These can easily be removed if desired. The lace up front closure is complete and in excellent shape, as is the "trash bag" pressure bladder closure system. The Strizh spacesuit was developed for the crew of the Russian Buran reusable spacecraft to be used during Intravehicular Activity. This style of suit was an analog to the US Space Shuttle Advanced Crew Escape Suit (ACES). Although the Buran program was canceled, a derivative of this suit, the Baklan pressure suit was adopted as the standard for use in Russian high-altitude combat aircraft. Here at Orbital Surplus, we collect odds and ends from anywhere in the galaxy. So depending on what empire has collapsed, space freighter has crashed or Transport "got lost", we never know what we will receive next. However, we have lost our lease on the asteroid we have called home for more than 30 solar cycles and have to move. So we are finding stuff we forgot we had, and this is where you luck out, cause it all has to go!
