The capacitor pops out and the DCC chip is easy to install in its place. Super Easy. Runs well on HO Scale track and performs well in general. He will need some lubrication/servicing before his next run. This locomotive has been operated less than five times on my lay out with at least 30 minutes of operation each time (at half speed or less). James also has the signature Bachmann Moving Eyes feature. Eyes move side to side as the locomotive runs down the track. This was purchased in 2021 from Bachmann Europe and the bottom of Jame’s smoke box was painted red by the factory—a common mistake with Bachmann since this model over the years. I painted it black with acrylic paint. This model is great for any fan of Thomas and Friends, whether you need the chassis for a more Show Accurate/custom model or a James model just to run on your layout for fun. James has the European Style coupling system like the rest of Bachmann’s “Thomas and Friends” collection so he can pull any coach or freight car (HO/OO scale) with the same style coupling Item comes from a clean smoke free home.
