Description: So we have an interesting situation with this album. All the copies we have were still sealed and were sitting in boxes in a warehouse for who-knows-how-many years. Then we sold a copy and the buyer told us that the record skipped. So, we opened and tested several copies and they all skipped. Here is an album that was evidently pressed with a defect but no one knew about until over 40 years after they were pressed. They are not warped -- they just skip. But there is an easy solution. Back in the day, when we had records that skipped, we taped a dime or quarter to the top of the needle and the records would play without skipping. And that is exactly what we did with this. If you balance or tape a quarter on top of your needle, it will play without one single skip. So, be forewarned.............if you buy a copy, prepare to adjust the tension (weight) of your needle or try the coin trick on top of the needle. We were selling this one for $14.99 but have marked it down to $11.99. Some have been opened so we could test them. Most are still sealed. The B. Willie Smith Band was one of the top bands out of the CT area in the 70s and 80s. In high-school (No. Haven, CT - Class of 1973), they shared a common interest in Chicago Blues and Hank Williams style of stripped down Country. They started out playing in a room off their guitarist's garage every Sunday night in 1971. It was very fraternal and pure. They were very content to play just for themselves. They played they first "job" as B. Willie Smith in 1972 (all 17 years old) at a small bar in North Haven called The Black Stallion for 10 bucks a guy and packed the place (50 people). The band persevered, went on to record 2 LP's and toured up and down the East Coast for years. The original 6-piece lineup: Bruce Smith - Vocals, drums and rhythm guitar. Bruce, aka B Willie, is known for his major charisma and smooth as silk vocals, Jerry Connolly - Drums, harmonica, vocals. Big backbeat! Jerry comes out from behind drums for sizzling blues-soaked harmonica and vocals, Steve Baldino - Guitar, vocals. Steve's guitar style can be described as "Albert King meets Chet Atkins." A totally original guitarist who sounds like no one else, Mike Cavadini - Piano, alto sax, vocals. Mike is at home in any style on the 88's. Switches to alto sax to join the B. Willie Horns and Bob Elliott - Bass, vocals, and the band's most prolific songwriter. Bob sings many of his own songs, and brings a country sensibility to the band. 1980 TNA (Trod Nossel Artists). Exec. produced by Doc Cavalier. Also available: B. Willie Smith Band's self-titled debut LP white label promo copies, not sealed.
