He was a student of Jules Chaplain, Victor Peter and Louis-Alexandre Bottée.At the Salon des artistes français, he received an honorable mention in 1908, a bronze medal in 1913, a silver medal in 1921 and a gold medal in 1933. He received a gold medal at the Specialized Exhibition of 1937. He was named a knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honor in 1934.
