Description: Original Authentic Vintage 1940 Map of India in English - Pre Partition map- Dated Nagpur 6-9-1940- No. 11032 - Published by Map House, Indian Book Depot, Lahore - An identical original described as “Rare” by a US map expert was sold for $345!- Even a replica of this map will cost around $60 + postage- Measurements: Overall 70 x 64cm Folded 18.5 x 22cm The provenance of this map is that it was acquired by my late father when he was recuperating from illness in Northern India during WW2. He had joined the Royal Navy in 1940 at the age of 18 and served mostly in Asia until after the end of the war. Although he showed me this map many years ago, I had completely forgotten about it until we found it with my mother’s possessions after her death last year in a box with other items from my father’s WW2 service. My father has written “Chaubattia May 1945” on the top corner of the front cover. There are also what appear to be a few ink blobs and a faint circular white mark on the top left hand corner (see picture 3) and a small tear along one of the fold corners….please take a close look at the photographs as these form part of the description.
