Description: These genuine, used sculptural objects are still commonly in use today by many people in the several tribal areas of Africa. This highly patinated and extraordinarily old one comes from the Tamberma area of Togo. This one was used to access the top opening of an adobe, thatch-topped granary. The longer ones are used to reach the roof of a house. Ladders are also still in use among the Lobi of Ivory Coast and the Dogon of Mali. We have these types as well. Those we carry are all among the most beautiful: the oldest, most used and with most patina. Some are free-standing, mounted on iron bases; some are un-mounted. This one comes with a base on which it rests, a wood base with an iron support. It is not attached to the base. This beautiful sculptural object measures 54" tall.
