There is NO scabbard. Approximately 15,000 M1888 rifles were made by Steyr in Austria for Siam (Thailand) in the 1890s. They were known as the Type Mannlicher Long Rifle but then were re-designated as the Type 33 when Siam adopted the Buddhist calendar in 1913. Overall, this bayonet is in Good - Very Good condition, considering its age. The press catch is functional with weak spring tension. It gets struck in the open position when pressed. It could use a little bit of lube and we are confident it will work just fine. The pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They have light scrapes, impact marks and a few areas of oxidation / finish loss. The rivets securely fasten the two wood grip panels with strong slots. They have oxidized with time. The grips have handling marks, compressions, light draglines and a couple small chips. They have darkened with age. The spine, sides and fullers have handling marks, scrapes, impact marks and a light layer of oxidation. The blade has a few scattered small nicks and dings. It has its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. The left ricasso is marked with the manufacturer name "CE/WG" and the right guard is marked with Thai characters. The scabbard is NOT included. This bayonet will be a great addition to your Siamese (Thai) rifle, or a bayonet collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
