AUSTRALIA GOLD QUARTZ SPECIMEN .32 GRAM GOLD AND QUARTZ

Description: NATIVE GOLD QUARTZ SPECIMEN from QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA Ruler is 1/4" wide (6 mm). U.S. 10 cent coin is 17 mm in diameter. Specimen weight: .32 Grams - 5 Grains Size: 8.3X6.1X4.7 mm Intruded with precious metal, quartz become highly collectible. Now you've entered into the mystical realm of GOLD! Since it contains VG (visible gold), this is definitely high grade ore. Miners don't often luck onto pockets, veins, even isolated float rocks with visible gold showing in them. Other mines, like the Gympie-Eldorado, were super-enriched with bonanza ore. With high grade like this, you don't need a pocket lens to see the oro. No milling and panning necessary. It's a small specimen, so check my descriptions and photos for scale. Despite it's size,a brilliant, golden presence is obvious; the product of naturally-occurring mineralization; mucked underground from a historic, eastern Australia hard-rock operation. The famed Gympie-Eldorado Mine rests beneath the town of Gympie. I sell naturally-occurring ores with visible gold. You won't find anything in my store which only 'assays' gold. Specimens such as I'm offering here are expensive to obtain and even harder to find. Prices aren't based on the amount of gold, but on the authenticity, rarity and collectibility of my specimens. U.S. SHIPPING - $4.00 (includes USPS tracking to all U.S. destinations) INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS S&H $16.00 FAST REFUND OFFERED (If, for any reason, you're not happy with this item) For years, I poured through old mining dumps with a pocket lens. Within those rock piles, I observed every color of the rainbow; white, orange, yellow, red rust, black, burnt, cindery-looking rocks. In all that time, I never find one solitary piece with visible gold in it. That still seems remarkable given the law of averages and the sheer number of rocks involved. Granted, when you've got a good claim to work, finding gold may seem relatively-easy. Having gold stare you in the face every day is quite a luxury really. Many hardscrabble and recreational miners alike have a far different story to tell. Like me, they reached the conclusion long ago that "there's no easy ounces." That's the reality. Yet, having spent years in the goldfields of North American, I believe a person stands a better chance of locating a minable deposit now than they ever did before. Twenty five years ago, no one could have forseen gold prices imcreasing by six or seven times. Knowing that, who in their right mind would have sold their finds? Well, I'll tell you. It's like this. When your beans play out, a man does what a man's gotta do. Jumping ahead a few decades years, some economic factors are much-improved in the gold mining arena. Mining costs have certainly gone up, but gold's worth a heck of a lot more than it used to be. If you're willing to work hard, have the time, determination, tools, and access to good claims, it's conceivable for a person nowadays to hit the jackpot. Super-heated hydrothermal solutions, associated with volcanic activity, carry dissolved gold along with silica. Under intensely-high pressure, this aqueous mixture fills natural fissures and faults in major geological formations. Contact alteration zones act as interfaces between larger rock formations. Oftimes, contacts become the recipients of metals carried by the hot waters. Dissolved minerals like gold, silver, copper, lead, et al, as they cool, crystallize and harden into veins, sills, dikes, ledges, etc. The same principle applies to much larger geological formations. Contact zones are ideal areas for prospectors to hone in on. If canyons, creeks, rivers, arroyos, et al drain and carry alluvial material away from these contact zones, a prospector/miner may be in business. Before agreeing to buy your nugget, lets say someone likes it, but want to negotiate the price. They persuade you to come down and accept what, for you, is a less-than-ideal sum. Whose fault is that? You let the deal go down, not the customer. Your buyer could have a unique market or promotional angle. Because of their connections, they turn around and triple their money on that sweet nug; one of the choicest pieces you ever found. Good on them. A long time ago, I came to realize when the right collector likes a particular piece of gold, they may pay ten times over spot. Was your nugget worth that much? Is selling for a high price profiteering or just good, old-fashioned dickering? Has ethics entered into the equation? Not the way I see things. Because I worked my claims by hand with a pick and shovel, there was sweat equity involved. How could anyone view receiving a healthy premium for some hard-won nugget as being greedy or exploitative? Au contraire. What greater investment can a person make than the perspiration off their own brow? In my Blue Book of Gold Nuggets, that's plenty enough reason to hold out for a better price. Unusual character nuggets and crystalline nuggets are more apt to go up in value than, say smooth, featureless nuggets or low-purity ones. If a nugget's purity is high, it's collectability is increased. It becomes worth more. Collectors usually prefer nuggets that rival the color found in the best gold coinage or in high-karat artifacts from some ancient civilization. Even though I appreciate gold more than the average Joe or Jill, unfortunately, I could never afford to become a collector. I've found plenty of nuggets, but since gold's my trade, they were converted to cash. As the old saying goes "you can't eat gold". G. Ralph Thanks for checking out our digs. Gold of Eldorado 1-14-13
