Description: Up for sale is this Audio Technica AT-PL120 in good condition. Modifications were made to this turntable by disabling the pre-amp.This modification was done because the internal preamp was not allowing the cartridge to sound to its fullest potential. Now that it’s been disable, thephono cartridge and other phono cartridges now sound great with this turntable.Because of this modification, your receiver will need to have a ‘Phono’ input or use a separate phono preamp. I replaced the RCA cables with newer ones and added a ground cable to prevent the buzz/hum sound. The phono cartridge used on this turntable is an Audio Technica ATP-2 that’s in good condition. I believe this is the OEM cartridge to this turntable. By the sound of it, it sounds great on both channels. I am not sure how many hours this cartridge has on its belt but I will safely assume it has plenty of life left. The dust cover has scratches all over, inside and out. Both hinges work without any issues, holding the cover steady when it’s opened. A rubber stopper is missing on the left side of the dust cover. Issues – One issue with this turntable is the anti-skating settings. It doesn’t dial in properly even after fixing it. Many of these turntables suffer from this defect from the factory unfortunately. However, the ATP-2 cartridge does play well with this turntable given the anti-skate issue. Tonearm lifter - The tonearm lifter doesn't dampen when lowering the tonearm down. You manually have to lower the tonearm slowly by using the lever. If you lower the lever in a fast motion the tonearm will drop. If purchased, I will ensure this turntable gets properly packed to ship safely to its destination. This turntable is as-is.
