Here we have 2 new multi colored Athearn Blue Box era HO Scale 40' Boxcar doors; these are classed as 6' doors but measure about 6.5' across to cover a 6' opening. These are the original style door designed for the Athearn 40' boxcars. Use these to change door types on other cars, bang them up for wreck debris or use in scrap loads, all sorts of uses come to mind. Freelance Modelers Idea: Many prototype railroads would paint the door of selected box cars that were in an assigned service, that, or they might add a door stripe or a band to designate cars used for certain special services. If you have the standard Athearn boxcars in your fleet, either steel or wood sided on your private rail line, you might do the same thing to simulate cars dedicated to a special service or route.
