Description: Vintage Arcading The Taiwan Heavy… For your consideration is an excellently functioning Atari CX2600 Taiwan Heavy Sixer console. Produced from the last week of June 1978 to mid-August 1978, the Taiwan and Hong Kong heavies were using up the last of the heavy sixer parts before the transition into the light sixers. Extremely limited production run, these units are HIGHLY collectible and desirable by retro gaming enthusiasts. The 'heavy' nickname stems from the nearly half inch thick plastic bottom that doubled as an RF shield and gave these early versions impeccable reception (and an extra pound of weight!) Everything about the first year models was quality, and it is very noticeable. From the robust ruggedness to the smooth action of the switches themselves, it's no wonder these models are highly sought after by retro gaming collectors. This auction is for the console only, and it is tested and everything functions as it should. Switch action is smooth, picture and sound quality are excellent. The faux woodgrain is in excellent condition. Notice the channel switch hole now available in the heavy sixer bottom, these units now incorporated the 2 channel RF modulator and selector switch like the light sixers. Original RF cord. Build stamped paper on the RF shield shows the build date, and it's just an added bonus to know the exact day your unit was produced. This is a survivor and ready for gaming! This is the nicest Taiwan heavy sixer that I have come across, nearly perfect and ALL ORIGINAL! These units are getting difficult to find in this original and amazing condition. The following has been performed on this unit...· Thorough cleaning inside and out of console. * Reflowed solder joints on both joystick ports.* Full functionality of switches and joystick ports tested. About testing...I test each reconditioned console on three different televisions of varying ages and manufacturers that I own to ensure the best picture quality and functionality. Picture quality will vary with television and setup. About myself…I have experience in electronics repair, at one time troubleshooting and repairing studio deck and camera equipment for television stations from around the country in the early 2000’s before everything went digital. I take pleasure and enjoyment working on these Atari’s, and each bundle or console that I list has many man hours involved to make sure that it will last a long time.
