Description: ARTIST SIGNED - Edward Goodall: Mount Rundel - Vermilion Lake - Banff, Alberta: Edward Goodall (1909-1982) was a Canadian artist. Goodall's family was a family of British artists dating back to 1794. Edward developed his talent through travel and financing his travels to India, Japan and China through his art, He eventually landed in Canada and during the Depression made his way by selling stocks and bonds and his drawings. When war broke out he enlisted and joined the Royal Engineers, specializing in camouflage of buildings and equipment for the duration. It was at this time that the idea of pen and ink and pencil post cards came to mind. He applied for the copyright to "Goodall's Pencil Postcard Series" in 1942 and began drawing scenes on Vancouver Island with considerable success, which continued until his death in 1982. This work is of Mount Rundle and Vermilion Lake in Banff, Alberta.. Mount Rundle is a mountain in Canada's Banff National Park overlooking the towns of Banff and Canmore, Alberta. The Cree name was Waskahigan Watchi or house mountain. In 1858 John Palliser renamed the mountain after Reverend Robert Rundle, a Methodist invited by the Hudson's Bay Company to do missionary work in western Canada in the 1840s. The Vermilion Lakes are a series of lakes located immediately west of Banff, Alberta, in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The three lakes are formed in the Bow River valley, in the Banff National Park, at the foot of Mount Norquay. They are located between the Trans-Canada Highway and the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks. A hot spring is found at the third lake. This Linen Era (1930-45) postcard is in good condition.
