Description: ARABIAN NIGHTS 3 Vol Set 1883 LANE About 400 Wood Engravings by Wm Harvey This 131-year-old, three volume set is Arabian Nights, translated into English by Edward William Lane, with about 400 in-text illustrations by William Harvey. It was published in London by Chatto and Windus in 1883. This is a "New Edition," annotated by the translator and edited by his nephew, Edward Stanley Poole. Each book measures 9" x 6." There are 1,835 pages altogether, plus 32 pages of advertisements at the end of Volume III. The books occupy 6 inches of shelf space and weigh 7 1/2 pounds. Overall, these antique books are in Very Good condition with some fading and edgewear to the bindings. There is some foxing to the outside page edges and, less-so, to the first- and last-few pages of each volume. There is some separation of the endpapers at the front interior hinge of Volume I (shown in the final photo). Finally, there are occasional pages in Volume III that are unopened along the top edge. The numerous, lovely, wood engravings by Harvey are in Fine condition. Also, there are no former-owner's bookplates inside, no unwanted writing, and no loose pages.This set will be packed carefully in a sturdy box and shipped within the US via USPS Media Mail.
