Description: HTF Antique Hull American Yellow Ware Slip Bands and Dot Floral Milk Cream Pitcher Jug 4” Here is a very special and hard to find yellow ware milk or cream pitcher or jug. Although unmarked, research indicates this was produced by Hull Pottery in Crooksville, Ohio. In the 1920’s, Hull produced a popular line of blue banded pottery. In attempts to build on that popularity, they developed the yellow ware pattern shown on this pitcher of slip glazed orange and deep blue dots forming a row of flowers between two creamy white bands. However, this hand decorated pattern was so labor intensive that production was discontinued after a short time. This jug is just under 4” tall with a pleasing round belly shape. It has an applied handle. Condition Notes: The piece has a number of typical production glazing defects as shown in the photos. As would be expected for its age, the pitcher is not in perfect condition. It has several tight hairline cracks extending down from the top rim. The detail photos show them both from the exterior and interior of the pitcher. The longest is about 1.5” long. They are all tight and you must look closely to see them. There is light age related crazing with a little color discoloration of the lower interior. There is no chipping, and the pitcher displays very nicely. The condition is reflected in the listed price.
