Description: CalvetHanger designed by Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926) and manufactured based on Gaudi’s 1903 design by Barcelona Design, as part of their 2019 collection. This is the Calvet Hanger (dimensions: 22 x 23 x 25 centimeters or 8.67 x 9.26 x 9.85 inches), made from waxed natural solid oakwood and a forged iron structure with a burnished copper and varnished finish. Antoni Gaudí is the most internationally well-known Spanish architect. His integrated conception of architecture led him to pay attention to buildings and all of their decorative elements, including furniture. The admiration felt by modern designers for the furniture designed by Gaudí prompted Barcelona Design to rescue them by embarking on their serial production using traditional art and craft techniques and the same materials – varnished solid oak, iron, and copper – in order to reproduce all the rich detail displayed by the originals when they were first produced. This hanger is made up of different elements bound together by a steel ribbon, and it constitutes the smallest piece of furniture ever made by Gaudí. The Calvet hanger is numbered and accompanied by a certificate, signed by the director of the Gaudí Cathedra, certifying that it is a faithful and exact reproduction of the original designed by Antoni Gaudí.
