Description: Very old and worn FANEUIL HALL/ S.S. PIERCE/ BOSTON/ VERY MILD CIGAR/ STRICTLY LONG FILLED/ FIVES wooden cigar box. Measures 11-1/4"x 2-7/8"x 4-7/8". The inside looks to have a paper label with the picture of Faneuil Hall, with a couple early autos.This box is very worn, the top is uneven and doesn't sit flat, and the top has a split from one side to the other. Also, very stained and dusty/dirty. Samuel Stillman Pierce was born in Dorchester, Mass., in 1807. He and his partner started out bartering in provisions with Boston harbor ship captains, and in 1886 his catalogue included wine, cigars, perfume, foreign cigarettes, soaps, tea, and more. He died in October,1880. His son Wallace took over and the business was eventually sold in 1972.
