Description: Antique English hand-made octagonal sterling silver cup / christening mug with hand-chased geometric and floral designs and an ornate handle. Hallmarked sterling silver lion with sideways anchor for Birmingham, and Q date mark for year 1891. The first letter of the preceding maker's mark is smudged, but given its origin, appears to be H&T, which stands for Hilliard & Thomason, who were Victorian silver makers active in Burmingham 1840-1906, and made a wide range of high quality items including christening cups, presentation items, etc. Measures 2 7/8" in height to the rim, and 3 1/8" to the top of the handle. Diameter is 1 7/8" at the top and 2 1/4" at the bottom. Weight is 83 grams. Great estate condition with no dents. See pictures as part of the description.
