Description: Interesting Antique Vanitas Carving, 19th Century German This is the final Vanitas this size in my possession. After two bone vanitas, this final one is made of either an amber or resine? The carving is fine and most likely dates to the 19th century. Like all skulls, this carving was made to act as a terminal bead to a one decade paternoster. The other skulls from this collection sold immediately. For fine examples of these Vanitas see the Met Collection, the British Museum & the V&A.
