Description: Antique Traveling Salesman Tea Sample Case Filled With Tea Tins This case is made of compressed wood, particle board, or fiberboard, With heavy duty Iron fixtures. This case has 12 compartments on the interior with Antique Tea tins in them. This case looks as though at one point of time had a handle to be carried. This case also has machined holes in the opening lid, and is marked M.B.T Company in faint letters with the number 172 coordinated with a small metal plaque that also says 172. After doing some research I found that travelling salesman often used cases much like this one with compartments to offer samples to potential customers. I also found out that Carl Lipton was a travelling salesman at one point of time, and used that experience to promote Lipton tea. This case would make an excellent decoration for a tea shop, as well as an interesting conversation piece. This case measures about 13 Inches wide x 18 Inches Long x 5 Inches Thick. Some of the tea tins are very old and rusty, I see dates on the cans from 1929-1930 ,I also see another brand called grandmothers tea on some tins. Item#2402
