CAP WEARING SCHOOL BOY REAL ANTIQUE TIN TOY, NOW AROUND 120 ODD YEARS OLD c.1902 EARLY MECHANICAL novelty figure ... boy ... man MADE IN GERMANY, AROUND THE TURN OF THE LAST CENTURY ALMOST CERTAINLY BY ISSMAYER......though occasionally described as a Gunthermann piece ( as almost every rare, early hand painted German toy seems to be ) figure stands appx. 9 inches / 22.5 cm TINPLATE CONSTRUCTION INTERNAL CLOCKWORK / WIND-UP MECHANISM.....original key winder at his back HE STILL WORKS REALLY WELL ARTICULATED ARMS AND HINGED WAISTLINE, AS THEY MOVE ABOUT HE SLIDES ALONG, GIVING THE IMPRESSION OF WALKING ON HIS STILTS RARELY SEEN, ESPECIALLY IN HIS DESIRABLE UNTOUCHED, UNRESTORED STATE (the few examples i've seen elsewhere, were unfortunately restored and over painted.....destroying their desirability) ORIGINAL HAND PAINTED DECORATION .... colours are still attractive and quite bright there is no touch up or fresh painting SUCH AN EARLY PIECE, HE DISPLAYS WITH THE USUAL EXPECTED NATURAL AGEING / PLAY WEAR...... including paint flaking, chips, paint surface loss etc..., as common to the earliest hand painted German tin toys .......DELIGHTFUL OLD TOY rust free and without repairs (please see all images for his actual condition) SCARCE ANTIQUE TINPLATE TOY, A REAL PERIOD PIECE, FROM THE START OF THE LAST CENTURY CHARMING ANTIQUE TOY AND STILL WORKING please take a good close look at all the images i've added, as these also form part of the description...and i'm parting with my STILT WALKER as is / as shown and without returns...thanks.if you need more images or have questions etc... please just ask.
