Description: Antique SOUP Plate(s) or Bowl(s) BAUSCHER WEIDEN, Wilhelm & Decsenyi NY ca. 1900 These white porcelain with heavy matte gold detail Soup Plate(s) (or bowls) were produced by the Bauscher Weiden company of Germany, sometime between 1900 and 1919. They were produced for the New York City retailer "Wilhelm & Descenyi", and were marked with their store name. They were located at 27 W. 33rd St, New York, NY (USA). That retailer sold a lot of hallmarked Bauscher Weiden wares, and at some point made a custom order with the porcelain maker for white/gold wares that would only carry their store name - this is from that period of time. Each soup plate measures 9" wide and 1.375" deep, and they are being sold individually with combined shipping available if you'd like more than one. Here's a little bit of history about Wilhelm & Decsenyi: Henry T. Wilhelm, New York, retailed china and glass. Around 1875 he partnered with W. Graef, operating as Wilhelm & Graef. They later had financial difficulties and around 1900 Wilhelm partnered with Sandor Decsenyi, operating as Wilhelm & Decsenyi. This is how the Wilhelm & Decsenyi store advertised their services: "Wilhelm & Decsenyi (Late Wilhelm & Graef) FINE TABLE CHINA and TABLE GLASS Decorated to order at short notice. INITIALS, MONOGRAMS. CRESTS and COATS- OF-ARMS a Specialty". These are in EXCELLENT condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or utensil marks. Marked as shown, with the stamped Wilhelm & Decsenyi gold mark. If you look VERY carefully under the right light, you can also see the oval impressed original Bauscher Weiden mark on some of these.
