Description: his highly collectable pot lid was produced by F & R Pratt of Fenton, Staffordshire c 1860s as one half of a pair - War and Peace, after the paintings by renowned artist, Sir Edwin Landseer.The original paintings were exhibited in the Royal Acadamy in 1846. This pot lid depicts War and has a coloured transfer printed battleground scene showing a fallen horses and a soldier lying among the rubble and desecration of war. The slightly domed lid is 4 inches in diameter and has been mounted in a round wooden frame. Overall the diameter is 5 inches. The lid has the title War and also the name of the engraver, J Austin. It is in good order with some body crazing and surface scratching. commensurate with age and use. The frame has a hanging loop for displaying on a wall.
