Description: ~*~ Hello and Welcome to the Textile Trunk! ~*~ This fabulous find is an antique , French theater backdrop ~ a one of a kind, fabulous find! When the light shines behind this backdrop , it illuminates the room with a soft, diffused warm light! I believe the dowel was once a curtain or blind! ~ This textile is hand painted with a wonderful Neoclassical design. ! Hand pained and most likely used as a theater back drop or even a home blind for someone with artistic flair!~ The base fabric is neither fragile nor is it sturdy, it's rather in between ! ~*~*~ ~. The fabric this is a painted on has the wonderful feeling of vellum , and I believe it's either a fabric based paper, or perhaps a heavy silk ?? It's really very difficult for me to say what the base of this is! ~ It's rolled on to a wooden dowel ~ Both ends of this down has the remains of what was the rolling mechanism ( it's metal, with darkened patina! ) This textile has some staining, some little holes and the bottom edge has some damage It is a stunning time-touched piece!~ ~ it is spectacular!!~ *~ ( E 5 ) MEASUREMENTS : ~This charming textile measures 55 inches wide by 98 inches long CONDITION : Please see condition details above and photographs~
