Description: Antique PA German Mennonite LeMoyne Star crib quilt, 31" x 44". This sweet quilt is so soft and snuggly that I can easily imagine the generations of babies sleeping soundly beneath it. It has 88 quilt squares, 44 of them are "stars" made of pink calicos and white. It also has a nice boarder made of another pink calico. The corners are rounded and whole quilt is edged with... pink calico. The quilting is very nice and even. I would describe it as a summer weight quilt because the batting is thin. This lovely quilt has lived a long life and shows some wear. The front has four small holes, one has been previously repaired, and one small spot/stain. See detail photos. The back has six very small spot/stains but no holes. It does have a haze of discoloration along the fold lines. See detail photos. The edging is worn and frayed a bit in a few areas. None of this is enough to distract from the appeal of this gem. I am happy to answer more questions and send more photos. My Mother bought this quilt from a friend of a friend near Bird in Hand, Lancaster County, PA in 2001. She was told that it had been made in approx 1940 by the seller's Grandmother.
