Description: Please note that I will be separately listing 10 original antique sample cigar box labels today, 6 of which are embossed. According to some preliminary research I did, they all date sometime from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. They were all framed at a much later date. This is an antique original sample cigar box label titled HABANA. The frame it is in measures 7 1/4 inches high x 11 1/4 inches wide (18.4 cm x 28.6 cm). The label measures 5 3/4 inches high x 9 3/4 inches wide (14.6 cm x 24.7 cm). O.L. Schwencke was a lithographer and would have had a sample book of these cigar box labels. The colors on the lithograph are rich and vibrant. The label has some light creasing going around the outer edges. There are four tiny holes going along the left side, and I am sensing they are original and probably from the book. There are vertical lines throughout, but they are so even and consistently spaced that they are definitely original. There are spots underneath the glass, which may have formed from moisture at some point. The frame is in very good condition. It weighs 13 ounces (368 g).
